Once everyone goes on a diet, there is just one option left – to send fruit gift baskets. In doing so, I decided to choose one of the largest fruit company growing, packing and shipping cherries, pears, apples, and stone fruit in the world – Stemilt Growers. I also liked that it’s a family-owned business, given that this gift was intended for my elder sister.
And let me tell you, you the best is not cheap (although I figured that it was less likely to disappoint me). The Pinata Apple 12 Pack costs $44.99, the Anjou Pears 12 Pack – $39.99 and 4 lbs of cherries – $64.99. The price also includes 2nd Day Air shipping, but it doesn’t help much, in my opinion. Besides, it’s kind of strange that the price is the same for everybody although the distance from their farm may vary. I’d prefer a personalized shipping system.
By the way, Stemilt Growers also have different wholesale plans for 4 months, 6 months and a year. If you choose Bronze Club for $169.99, you will get four months of fruit including 2.5 pounds of Dark-Sweet and Rainiers in July, a 9 Pack of Organic Peaches in August, a 12 Pack of Three in Harmony in November and a 12 Pack of Three’s Company Asst in December.
With Silver Club at $244.99, you will get six months of fruit, including a 12 Pack of Red Delicious in January, a 12 Pack of All Red Medley in February, 2.5 pounds of Dark-Sweet Cherries in June, 2.5 pounds of Dark-Sweet and Rainiers in July, a 9 Pack of Organic Peaches in August, and a 12 Pack of Three’s Company Asst in December.
And, finally, with Gold club at $479.99, you get access to fresh fruit delivered every month for 1 year. I chose neither of these options because it was a just because gift. I went for the Anjou Pears 12 Pack at $39.99 instead.
The package reached my sister 2 days later, as promised. She said that they were juicy and refreshing and was happy with the gift. I wish Stemilt Growers’ fruit were less expensive, but you can afford to get the best of the best once in a while.
