Find out more about PutnamMarket.com
I used to come to Putnam Market for free wine tastings and their sandwiches and salads (they have a great selection of unique sandwiches), so I was glad to find their website. Their slogan is that good food makes a great gift, and I agree with that. They also say that they offer ‘the best food from Manhattan to Montreal, although I would argue with that. And though I was happy to find the site and they make really great (although not cheap) food, but they need to work on it.
There is no way to order a gift basket by going through a simple checkout process. To place an order, you need to call them at (518) 587-3663, or contact orders@ putnammarket.com with the shipping and payment details. Frankly, it was quite inconvenient.
Moreover, their selection of gift baskets is presented in a pdf brochure (http://putnammarket.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Every-Day-Gift-Baskets-C-2012.pdf), and this pdf document almost does not have any pictures. Clearly, you should know the Putnam Market menu quite well to be able to choose a gift basket. I chose the Saratoga Spectacular (Saratoga sparkling water, salsa, biscotti, peanut butter, hot fudge sauce, potato chips, chocolate babka, flatbread crackers and Macy’s cheesesticks) at $59.95 because frankly, I am in love with their peanut butter.
I decided to call them because I thought it would be quicker that way. My order was accepted and shipped a day after and reached the recipient quite quickly, because my friend also lives in New York. She was quite happy with the gift when she tasted everything, too.
Overall, Putnam Market is a good choice but their website needs some serious work: add some pictures and a checkout page, please! I understand that the place owner are quite busy – it is written on the website that they don’t plan to expand because they are busy with children, but business is business.
